The Healing Power of Horses

The Healing Power of Horses share "TOURNIQUET" from their debut EP "Summer Indoors (or outside wearing black)" out now on section1.

East Anglian duo The Healing Power of Horses defy easy categorisation, but that's how they like it. They have spent way too much time in the attic making tunes and not enough time outside, and as a result are awfully pallid and bug-eyed and knock-kneed and all the rest. Now, with the clock running down and the fanfare of Death's march getting louder with every step, they have poked both their heads out of the window and decided to fire a flare gun.

Earlier this year the band signed to section1 (RIP Magic, Blonde Redhead, King Princess), the Los-Angeles based sister label to Partisan Records, and offered up their beguiling first single “i wait, i sink”, a debut that would go to make Track Of The Week at many International media outlets, Track Of The Week on BBC 6 Music's Introducing Mixtape.

It's intermittently beautiful, fractured follow-up "In Yr Right Hand Reveal Heaven" saw similar acclaim and the band named Breaking Artist at BBC 6 New Music.

Today the band release their debut EP, "Summer Indoors (or outside wearing black)" and focus track, "TOURNIQUET", a direct and incisive slice of off-kilter pop and another clue towards where the duo might head next musically.

The EP drifts like a transmission caught mid-air with songs that lurch, glide, and shimmer as if caught between memory and dream. Brittle rhythms crack against blown-out textures, giving way to moments of weightless melody that hover just above themselves. The tracks move through flashes of paranoia, mercy, and hope, flickering between the intimate and the uncanny, with each turn revealing something shiny, disorienting, and faintly heavenly.

Following sporadic, much talked about shows across the capital, at The Great Escape and most recently in support of RIP Magic for their label's 5th birthday, the group will play at a number of festivals across the summer, and head to mainland Europe for the first time, performing at Left Of The Dial in Rotterdam and Pitchfork Avant Garde in Paris.
