Marital Bed
Marital Bed share new single “He or She” taken from their new self-titled album out December 4th 2026.

Today, Chicago based five-piece Marital Bed have shared a new single titled “He or She”. The sludgy new track is taken from their much-anticipated debut album, which was recently announced alongside it’s first single “Ghost”.
The inaugural self-titled release is out 4th December 2026 and comes as the band find themselves on a fast word of mouth ascent. With just one single to their name, they’ve earned a spot in Anthony Fantano’s (The Needle Drop) favourite singles of 2025, pickup from International media outlets, as well as support slots for the likes of Ulrika Spacek and more.
Having met through a random encounter at a bar, Marital Bed assembled as essentially strangers. Honing their sound in singer/songwriter Charissa Jene Lindquist tiny 2nd. floor apartment in the Chicago’s Ukrainian Village district, the band’s sound echoes their name, evoking innocence, repression, and holy matrimony, but also something sinister, erotic, and archaic. Often labelled “art rock”, “new wave”, or “post-punk”, the band pride themselves on drawing from “whatever the song calls for”.
All those genre tags are fair deductions on the face of things but on Marital Bed the band augment this with TV and radio samples, noise, Wurlitzer, analogue and digital synth, and saxophone, while manipulating their traditionally recorded drum tracks to create an uncanny effect.
Whereas the previous single saw the band put a demented spin on a 60s girl group style pop song, the new single “He or She” is a much darker and cacophonous affair. Starting with droning guitars and languid vocals, the track builds tension until the band take their final form with thick distorted instrumentation, a driving rhythm section, unsettling synth work, and almost spectral vocals.
Speaking on the single and video, Lindquist says,
“’He or She’ explores the disintegration of a marriage by infidelity and betrayal. The video pairs highly stylized performance imagery of the band in a dilapidated warehouse with abstract imagery of decay, death, and human sexuality.”
Across the album, Marital Bed tackle the mysteries and insanity of romance, drawing from both traditional archetypes of relationships between men and women and also the alienation felt in the modern state of love.
On Marital Bed, they strive to capture ambiguity, both in the songs’ themes/lyrical substances and the overall sound/atmosphere explored across the album, consummating everything that has brought them to this point.

Marital Bed is out 4th December 2026
