Copenhagen’s indie-pop maverick School of X releases the poignant visual for ‘Feel of It’ via Tambourhinoceros.
Copenhagen native School of X returns with the visual for enormous indie track ‘Feel of It’ from June 16th from upcoming album ‘Dancing Through The Void’ via Tambourhinoceros (Molina, Palace Winter).
School of X, the moniker of Rasmus Littauer, has grown leaps and bounds since being a jewel in Copenhagen’s underground scene. With previous songs featuring contributions from Ana Perrote (Hinds) and Spencer Zahn (Empress of, Half Waif) and drumming contributions for MØ, Clairo and Liss [the band of recently deceased and beloved lead singer Søren Holm], his solo material now takes centre stage.
“So much has happened since last year,”
he says, after the release of his 2020 debut album ‘Armlock’. The pandemic put life on hold for an artist who has spent the past ten years touring and making music, with his SXSW show cancelled just before his first trip to the states as a solo artist.
Pair this with the birth of his first son, Rasmus’ life totally changed, with a year indoors giving him time to think about the bigger picture:
“I was facing a lot of things from my life, that I want to do differently for him.”
School of X put his free time into writing his next album, the upcoming ‘Dancing Through the Void’ (24th Sept). Previous single ‘Away’ was an anthemic announcement of his new sonic direction, effortlessly blending indie pop with a borderless range of genres: “It makes it easier to create if there are no boundaries.”
His newest offering ‘Feel of It’ radiates a brand-new energy, diverging from School of X’s historically darker indie-pop sound. The accompanying music video directed by Sif Lina is an unnerving clip School of X’s Rasmus Littauer being chased by a burning man running after him.
“The idea for the video was to do something really precise and conceptual with strong symbolism: the fire hunting the man.”
says Littauer.
“It symbolizes all these emotions and temptations that you struggle with, and how they either push you ahead or bring you down.”
‘Feel of It’ is available on all online platforms now. ‘Dancing Through The Void’ is out 24th September via Tambourhinoceros. Pre-save here!
