Brisbane-based psych/ garage-rock band have just signed to Bad Vibrations and released a cover of Donna Summer’s iconic ‘I Feel Love’ track.
Brisbane's Nice Biscuit create their distinct vision of psychedelic and garage rock by blending together harmonised vocal melodies and driving instrumental grooves. They have recently signed to Bad Vibrations and sharing their cover of Donna Summer's iconic single "I Feel Love". The band will be touring the UK and Europe throughout May and June this year including The Great Escape & Wide Awake festivals.
On the track, the band said
"'I Feel Love' has always been one of our favourite dance tracks and we felt very excited to record and release this gem by Donna Summer, the queen of disco herself."
Vocalists Billie Star and Grace Cuell, bring their ethereal and powerful vocal harmonies, synchronised movement and elaborate matching costumes to create a visually stunning live performance. Nick Cavendish (bass), Jess Ferronato (guitar) and Kurt Melvin (drums), offer fuzzy instrumentals, melodic lead guitar sections and tight rhythms that combine to create a swirl of psychy sonic exploration that can't be missed.
Since forming in 2016 the band have gained a reputation for their awe-inspiring live shows, hypnotising audiences in Australia and across the UK. Nice Biscuit have played with the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Allah Las, The Growlers and The Murlocs.
Their debut LP Digital Mountain (2018) gained wide acclaim by psych fans in Australia, UK and US with highlight singles Captain, Fairfield of Dreams & Digital Mountain Sparrow. The first and only vinyl press of this LP quickly sold out and they remain in hot demand.
In 2019, they embarked on an 11-date tour in the UK including appearing at The Great Escape and securing a support slot with Altın Gün at the Jazz Cafe as well as three headline shows in London (including a packed house at The Shacklewell Arms). The band generated significant media buzz in the UK - They were listed one of as NME’s ‘10 new bands to watch at the Great Escape’ and a ‘Band not to miss at Sound City Liverpool’ by Get Into This.
Nice Biscuit returned in December 2020 with their much anticipated single Fem Chem, which featured on their EP Create, Simulate, released internationally in February 2021. Create, Simulate received rave reviews and national radio-play and showcases the bands deeper, darker pop-injected psych. Later in 2021 they released their second EP Passing Over that boasts a lighter side of the Biscuits with elongated instrumentals building to smooth, danceable, grooves, taking space to tell a story sonically and lyrically. They released these contrasting EPs on vinyl as a double EP Create, Simulate / Passing Over selling out in record stores and online sales. In support of the vinyl release, the band toured AUS to packed out venues, including two sold out Melbourne shows.
This May/June Nice Biscuit are embarking on a UK/EU co-headline tour with band members’ (Grace) new project Baby Cool. In the meantime, expect some exciting new tracks from Nice Biscuit in 2023 ahead of their much anticipated second album to be released in early 2024.
