Vienna-based three-piece My Ugly Clementine announce their new album ‘The Good Life’ out August 11th on BMG, and share new single “Are You In”.
Vienna-based three-piece My Ugly Clementine have shared new single “Are You In” - the first taste of the group’s forthcoming album ‘The Good Life’, which will be released on August 11, 2023, via BMG. The have also announced a string of European live dates, including a London show.
”Are You In” is a captivating slice of indie rock that blends grunge-heavy 90s guitars with a soaring chorus. The track zooms in on those moments in life when things don’t go smoothly at all: it’s about everyday mishaps, obstacles one has to overcome, existential fears and that feeling of working your ass off without ever really getting anywhere. A sonic panacea to cure this feeling of deadlock, the band’s new song serves as a reminder to let go, to make decisions, to simply go with the flow instead. After all, it’s a choice to live that “Good Life” – so “are you in”?
My Ugly Clementine comprises of three visionaries from Vienna’s thriving music scene – Sophie Lindinger, Mira Lu Kovacs, and Nastasja Ronck. While Lindinger is also part of the acclaimed pop duo Leyya, guitarist Mira Lu Kovacs is a successful solo musician and songwriter and Ronck also plays with Austrian indie heavy-weights Sharktank.
Following the 2020 release of My Ugly Clementine’s debut album ‘Vitamin C,’ the band have performed at various renowned festivals across Europe including Primavera Sound (Barcelona), Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg), and Eurosonic (Groningen), as well as winning the prestigious Impala Album of the Year Award. More recently, My Ugly Clementine opened as Special Guests during Parcel’s European Tour 2022.
Self-produced by My Ugly Clementine, sessions for ‘The Good Life’ took place in a remote house somewhere in Beskid Mountains, far away from civilization. Referred to as the group’s “President of Sound,” Sophie Lindinger also overtook mixing duties, working on “Are You In” when she felt she had discovered the sonic direction for the forthcoming LP:
“This is exactly the sound of the new album,”
she proclaimed.
Accordingly, it just seemed natural to release “Are You In” as the new album’s first single.
Following the album release in August, My Ugly Clementine will embark on a European tour this fall.
