maddi jean (Maddi Jean Waterhouse) shares new single 'Greedy'
Twenty-one-year-old British artist and model maddi jean (Maddi Jean Waterhouse) releases her latest single ‘Greedy’, the second to be taken from her debut EP expected for release later this year. Whilst she’s already made waves as an emerging international model, music has always been maddi’s overriding passion, but it wasn’t until leaving the confines of her very traditional school that she realised it was a path she could seriously pursue.
Of the new track, maddi says;
“greedy is all about finding your voice in a relationship, and remembering your worth when you realise
you’ve not been respected or valued.
a reclamation of power!”
Growing up, maddi’s “eternal and OG sources of inspiration” were Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift. As Maddi explains,
“the way Lana tells stories through her writing captured me from the very first time I heard
Video Games, I had never felt so many emotions
about a music video and song before, it was
so powerful.”
In recent years, her inspirations come from other young female artists such as King Princess, girl in red, Clairo, L Devine and Beabadoobee. Maddi’s own creativity manifests itself in her music, stories and art. Her playful electro-pop sound is combined with confessional and whimsical lyrics that feels immediate, youthful and essential. Storytelling is important to Maddi, and this shows in the honesty of her music.
Keeping productive during lockdown, maddi has not only spent the 2020 preparing her debut EP, but has continued with her passion for photography, volunteered at a London Hospital and has also been finishing the second year of her art history degree at SOAS from home.
