Jadu Heart

London-based duo Jadu Heart announce third album Derealised via VLF Records and share new single “I Shimmer”.

Today, the London-based duo Jadu Heart (Diva-Sachy Jeffrey and Alex Headford) announce their third album Derealised and share brand new track “I Shimmer”. The album will come out on January 20 via VLF Records.

The band also announce their biggest headline tour to date with shows in the UK, Europe and North America for January 2023. This is the band’s first appearance in the US and with over 100m streams there they come in high demand. The tour replaces their 2020 booked run that was cancelled due to Covid.

Derealised takes the grungier tones of their previous album Hyper Romance and adds widescreen soundscapes, bright melodies and gorgeously dreamy textures.

The album was worked out of their home in Stoke Newington having moved back from Bristol, burrowing down during lockdown to make their most interconnected body of work yet.

“The studio environment we’re in really helps with the character of the album,”

Diva says. “Cocoon”, the lead single the duo previewed earlier this summer centers around this idea of safety and being protected in a home.

Their latest single, “I Shimmer” does a good job of explaining the scintillating beauty of the album and follows the driving, forceful indie-rock of “Cocoon”.

“‘I Shimmer’ is about that mania you can feel after a low”,

the band explain.

“We can both go to dark places from time to time but there's always a moment where you see a sliver of light and you're like 'fuck it, let's go towards it'. It's that journey from hopelessness to nihilism where you feel you can not be stopped. Where you follow a moment of clarity.”

Derealised was written as an antidote to - and growing acceptance of - a baffling and dispassionate world. It is a celebration of humanity despite all of its failings. The album capures the them accepting “that the world is a weird fucking place” rather than fighting against the feelings. One of the mental health issues the pair suffered from and then came to understand, derealisation, gives the new album its title.

Diva explains:

“The first half of a lot of the songs were written in that time when we started reevaluating our own lives, and then in the second half, they turned from this hopelessness to hopefulness.”

This juxtaposition defines the album, and tracks the pair’s personal journeys.

“There’s something so interesting in optimism,”

Alex muses.

“If you’re in a shit situation but can find optimism within it, it’s far more exciting to me than just straight nihilism. The worlds tough enough as it is and I think exploring positivity from that

interests me more as an artist.”

The message: nothing – including Jadu Heart themselves – will stay the same for long.

Despites their last release being over two years ago, the pair have a way of connecting with their audience, themselves a balanced portrait of the country. A devoted audience highlighted by their 1.4 million monthly Spotify listeners and live shows of 1,000, Jadu Heart are building something truly special.

Jadu Heart’s third album Derealised will come out on January 20 via VLF Records and new single “I Shimmer” is out on all DSPs now. The tour presale starts on Wed October 12, with general sale Fri October 14.
