Honey I'm Home
Honey I'm Home share new single 'Soon' & announce debut EP for release on 12th March via Odd4 alongside VHS horror short film.

Honey I’m Home are today announcing their debut EP along with its lead single 'Soon'. The band have also announced that the 6 track EP will be accompanied on release by a VHS horror short film (created by Mexican horror director Kiko Morah) all shot in an abandoned factory where songs from the EP were developed before being finished in the studio.
The inventive Dutch quintet have been building something very special through the past couple of years. Honey I'm Home – completed by Thom Schotanus, Sofie Ooteman, Jasper Meurs, Hugo de Groot and Evelien Keesmaat – share today's news having seen their fanbase begin to swell after putting in the legwork at festivals and clubs across the US, Europe and the UK.
They've hit stages at Reeperbahn and Left of the Dial festivals, completed a full European tour in support of Third Man Records' own Hotline TNT, and Girl Scout, opened for Shame, as well making their US debuts at Austin's SXSW and NYC's New Colossus Festival. Their first national radio plays have come from BBC 6 Music and KEXP.
With their debut EP, and lead single 'Soon', the band aligns sky-scraping washes of reverb with passages of plaintive introspective that claw at the core of what it is to be human in the 2020s. 'Soon' discusses the endless (and futile) pursuit for the next dopamine hit, while 'Foreign' drives buzzing guitar fuzz through a song about the burden of feeling helpless and trying to counter negative thought patterns.
EP centre-point 'Stop Sign' converges on themes of dissociation, building and building into a chiming heart-breaker that swells into crashes of heavy guitars and gorgeous strings.
Throughout these six songs, the powerful and yearning vocals of Sofie Ooteman help to reveal a whole world punctuated by broad-shouldered and dense shoegaze elements, 90s alt-rock, and much more.
Guitarist and singer Thom Schotanus explains:
"'Soon' is about always searching for something you can never really reach. You think the next thing will make you happy, but once you get there, you’re already looking for something else. Where our previous songs often had a more catchy pop structure, Soon is much stranger and less predictable.
It stays in this melancholic atmosphere, but dynamically it goes all over the place. From very soft and intimate to huge layers of guitars and an almost stoner metal-like riff. Jeff Buckley’s way of playing with those extremes was a big inspiration for us as a band, although we don't sound anything like him. The song started with a hypnotic guitar loop written in my attic room and took a long time to finally become a song."
Drummer and producer Jasper Meurs say of the EP:
"For our first real collection of songs we wanted to make it cohesive, and we wanted to focus on the live energy of the band, the live version of the band expresses who we are the best I think. So we recorded all the songs live first, in an abandoned plague house, and then build the rest of the production on top."
