FEWS

FEWS announce searing single 'Get Out', whilst announcing third album 'Glass City' set for arrival in April!

Multinational post-punk quartet FEWS share new single ‘Get Out’ from their upcoming third album ‘Glass City’ via Welfare Sounds & Records.

Hailing from Sweden, America & England, FEWS have built a fearsome reputation for their intense, immersive live shows; touring across the UK and Europe with the likes of Pixies, Fat White Family, Bloc Party, DIIV and Crack Cloud. Lauded by many prominent publications, FEWS have affirmed their place at the crest of a blistering new wave of post-punk.

The band’s previous releases, the 2016 debut album ‘MEANS’ and 2019’s ‘Into Red’, reflect worldly observations in broken mirrors and consider the uncertainty of contemporary life through the eyes of others; but ‘Get Out’ is the first time FEWS have turned their gaze inwards. The speaker-rattling single is underpinned by a relentless, unsettling synth loop intended to echo the overwhelming alienation that bassist Jay Clifton felt on his first time alone in Malmö, far from anything familiar.

Filmed and directed by the FEWS themselves, the accompanying video amplifies this discomfort; through a home video haze we witness plate after plate of food consumed by a party-hard protagonist determined to have a good time, until things literally fall apart. Perfectly capturing the band’s unsettling intensity; it’s unsavoury and grotesque but it’s also impossible to look away.

Starting with nothing but the ambition of creating something “punky and simple”, FEWS went straight back into the studio after releasing ‘Into Red’ to start experimenting with producer Joakim Lindberg. Leaving behind the comfort of production polish and resisting the urge to compromise for the sake of accessibility, the band’s imminent third album ‘GLASS CITY’ is unashamedly honest, defiantly raw and represents FEWS at their bracing, brutal best.

‘GLASS CITY’ is set for release April 14 2023 via Welfare Sounds & Records.
