Fiona-Lee releases new single and video ‘Not My Friends’, taken from her second EP ‘Every Woman’ set for release April 17th via Gravity / Capitol Records. April UK headline tour announced.

Fiona-Lee releases new single ‘Not My Friends’ today. Previously announced second EP ‘Every Woman’ is set to arrive April 17th via Gravity / Capitol Records, and will be supported by her debut UK headline tour this spring.

Across the forthcoming EP Fiona-Lee tackles difficult emotional situations with introspection and poise. ‘Not My Friends’ is no different, as she explains:

“Not My Friends is about trying to fill an emotional void at any cost to avoid feeling alone. It came from a time when I was investing in the wrong relationships with the wrong people and accepting less than I deserved because of the “something is better than nothing” mindset.

That fear of loneliness can be a hard cycle to break, even when you’re fully aware of it. At its heart, Not My Friends is about self-awareness, recognising misplaced attachments, and having self compassion for when you fall back into those habits.”

Teaming up with esteemed producer Thom Lewis (Sam Fender - ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ and ‘Seventeen Going Under’) for her forthcoming EP, ‘Not My Friends’ follows acclaimed previous EP reveals ’Every Woman’,  ‘Victim’ and ‘Imposter’, and further showcases the Yorkshire-based musician’s raw and evocative songwriting in its purest form.

Soaring guitars usher in Fiona’s voice, which is by turns earthy and transcendent. The track is a continual ratcheting up of momentum, towards an anthemic climax destined for huge spaces. With tour supports already ticked off alongside the likes of CMAT and Miles Kane, as well as a sold-out headliner of her own in Leeds late last year, Fiona-Lee is certainly primed to build on her live progress in recent times.

Kicking off her debut UK headline tour in April (incl. headline dates in London and Manchester) to coincide with her EP’s arrival, the artist will then commence a busy summer on the festival circuit, in addition to major support slots with The Maccabees and Paul Weller.

Heavily praised throughout the press landscape from the likes of Rough Trade, Under The Radar, and international media outlets, as well as becoming a standout emerging figure on the BBC 6 Music airwaves (Huw Stephens & Steve Lamacq - The Great Escape specials, Amy Lamé -‘Sunday Girl’), the musician has already ticked off a BBC Radio 4 ‘Woman’s Hour’ appearance and landed several BBC Radio 1 (Nels Hylton, ‘Next Wave’ feature Sian Eleri) spins, with the spotlight sure to intensify further in the months to come.
