ugly ozo releases new and final single 'cherry' taken from her debut EP 'stargirl' arriving this Friday Oct 24th via REX RECS.

Isle of Wight indie favourite ugly ozo shares mesmerising new track ‘cherry’, out today (October 21st), marking the final preview from debut EP ‘stargirl , set for release this Friday (October 24th) via REX RECS.
Taking inspiration from the likes of The Breeders, Wolf Alice, Autolux and NewDad, ‘cherry’ showcases a whole new side to artist Jessica Baker’s uncompromising style, and lays bare the most confronting corners of the female experience.
Written and recorded at REX Studio with longtime collaborator and producer Macks Faulkron (HighSchool, Picture Parlour, She’s In Parties), the mellow and melodic offering is the latest teaser from her forthcoming extended release out later this week.
Following acclaimed lead singles ‘madonna’, ‘sink or swim’ and ‘onto a winner’ and arriving off the back of a Dope Lemon tour support last month, ugly ozo has already gained widespread plaudits across the press community (Rough Trade, Under The Radar, etc). With BBC 6 Music also becoming strong supporters (Nathan Shepherd, Chris Hawkins, Amy Lamé - ‘Sunday Girl’ feature), as well as repeated backing from Radio X (John Kennedy) and KEXP (Cheryl Waters), the indie riser is fast becoming a standout figure amongst the emerging indie elite.
Partnered with REX RECS, the new indie label founded by producer, writer and musician Macks Faulkron, of REX Studio, a creative music hub for the underground scene in North London (Caroline Polachek, Confidence Man, Daniel Avery, Picture Parlour, She's In Parties), ugly ozo’s contagious musicality is plastered all over her new material, and with a debut London headline show at The Shacklewell Arms next week (October 30th), her extensive live plot continues to take shape.
Speaking ahead of her EP preview, ugly ozo explained:
"I wrote ‘cherry’ about the feeling of yearning for someone caught somewhere between a friend and a lover. It’s a super feminine, sentimental take on heartache and the all-consuming feeling of wanting someone. It’s the softer, vulnerable side of ‘stargirl’”.
