SOFY

Hotly-tipped Leicester-via-London songwriter SOFY today shares a piercing new single ‘Wishbone’.

‘Wishbone’ signals an inauguration: a new era of SOFY. After a year of navigating intense burnout and battling with mental health struggles, she was at her wits end. Something had to give. Now, she’s sharpening her edges, unlocking a darker, grittier side, and setting the tone for her largest, most personal chapter yet - one that’s only just beginning to unravel.

Wishbone’ was born from the emotional whiplash that comes with chasing ambition, while grappling with expectation.

“It’s about loving something that doesn’t love you back, chasing a carrot on a stick until it completely unravels you to the point of losing your head.”

SOFY states of the tune. She continues, sharing that the tune was

“one of the first songs we wrote when we started working on this new era of music and setting the tone for the project, so it really captures the raw feeling I had at the time. Musically it's a bit of a jump away from stuff you’ve heard from me before. It’s quite dark, so it feels like a bit of a statement.”

Wishbone’ arrives alongside a twisted, tongue-in-cheek horror video at 5:30pm this evening, presenting SOFY as a serial killer stalking the halls of a haunted house.

“I went into this writing period feeling as though I had nothing to lose, which we portrayed in the music video by casting me as a serial killer maniac in a haunted house. That was fun, although I haven’t had a full night's sleep since to be honest.”

She jests.

“I wanted the music video to feel as detached from reality as I did when I wrote the song.”

‘Wishbone’ builds on a breakout run for SOFY, following the successes of Another Day In Paradise, Chaos & Commotion, and Bored on Colour (Part 1) & Bored in Colour (Part 2). Armed with her witty brilliance, self-aware songwriting, and her loyal army of “rats,” as her fans call themselves, she’s quickly cemented herself as one of the most exciting rising names in the UK.

Along the way, SOFY’s found herself popping up everywhere - from the FIFA 23 soundtrack and BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge talent search finals to MTV Fresh Out and festival stages at Glastonbury, Latitude, Leeds, Boardmasters, The Great Escape, Truck Festival and YNOT. Not to mention, opening for Sabrina Carpenter’s BST Hyde Park show last year, Kasabian this coming July and many more invigorating festivals and shows to be announced in the coming months.

Her catalogue has earned millions of streams and strong support from BBC Radio and tastemaker platforms, including but not limited to international media outlets, leading to buzzy sold-out headline shows and her largest UK tour to date, and continued to build a devoted fanbase, sealing her reputation as one of indie’s most charismatic and magnetic rising voices.
