Ross From Friends

Ross From Friends shares video for fan favourite ‘LOVE DIVIDE’ directed by Bryan M. Ferguson and announces US tour dates.

Ross From Friends (Felix Clary Weatherall) shares the official video for ‘Love Divide’ directed by Scottish filmmaker Bryan M. Ferguson, celebrated for his ability to juxtapose the uncanny and the surreal. ‘Love Divide’–from the British artist’s new album “Tread”–bears all the hallmarks of a future Ross From Friends classic: brilliantly refracting and subverting big room euphoria and remodelling it in his singular production style. The result is a sleek four-to-the-floor bullet that is already a fan favourite judging by the reactions from recent live sets.

“The first time I heard the track it really made me feel nostalgic for a time when I'd been a teenager hopping the music channels in the early hours. It evoked that insomniac, after hours vibe for me – which lends itself to warranting a strange visual component,”

explains Bryan.

“The song has this sound that's completely dream-like and fun but at times forlorn, so with the video I wanted to try and capture that same feeling by making something that doesn't take itself too seriously and blends melancholy with surrealism.”

An artist who demonstrates an ever-increasing mastery of his craft, Ross From Friends’s new album “Tread” is a record that is beautifully textured and melodic but also eminently danceable. He also cleverly balances nostalgia but keeps moving forwards.

Over the course of writing the album, Felix created a detailed, timestamped, personal musical memoir in the form of an audio library. He named it Thresho after a free Max for Live software plugin that he conceived and built to improve his workflow. Thresho was at the very heart of the creation of “Tread” and last week Felix shared the massive audio bank with fans: https://thresho.rossfromfriends.net/.

The archive offers the rare opportunity to peek behind the curtain at the process of one of the most exciting producers in the electronic realm and also the opportunity to creatively interact with the library of about 2000 recordings. On the site you can scroll to a specific date and time, listen to, and download all the recordings for free.

A cornerstone of Ross From Friends music has always been the blistering 3-man live show—comprising Felix, Jed Hampson & John Dunk—that delivers a killer blend of live musicianship (guitar, keys and sax) and electronics and has graced stages at the likes of Coachella, Glastonbury, Primavera and Sonar to name a few.

Tickets are on sale now for a headline tour in the UK & Europe in 2022, with the London leg at Electric Brixton on the brink of selling out. In March 2022 Felix heads out to North America for his first live shows since 2019 for an East coast run with stops in Miami, Chicago, Denver, New York, Philadelphia and Montreal.
