Swedish band Girl Scout is back today with the release of their latest single “Operator,” the second preview of their forthcoming full-length album Brink.

Scuzzy in sound and cheeky in nature, the track lands somewhere between power-pop ripper and fictionalized meet-cute as it ponders the questions: what if operators were still around? and what if they sounded hot on the other end of the line?
”It’s really just a dumb song, isn’t it? A dumb guitar riff, dumb lyrics and a dumb beat, and we love it just the way it is. I have no idea where the inspiration behind the lyrics came from, I have no relationship to switchboard operators and they haven’t been around since before I was born. But wouldn’t it be fun if they were still around and they sounded really hot over the phone?”
adds Girl Scout’s Emma Jansson about the track.
Following a trilogy of introductory EPs, a buzzed-about tour with Alvvays, and a mountain of global acclaim since they first emerged in 2022, the Stockholm-based trio’s debut album Brink officially arrives on March 20th, 2026 via AWAL and was mixed by Alex Farrar (Wednesday, Snail Mail). A sun-drenched prism of Girl Scout’s guitar-driven indie rock, Brink refracts with a new glow from each song to the next. Its 13 tracks are caught between apocalyptic anxiety and wistful escapism; an album capturing the all-too-familiar crossroads of feeling stuck, yearning for change, and standing on the edge of something unknown.
The record was first previewed by the three-piece’s single “Same Kids” late last year, described by the media as being “haloed in captivating, youthful energy” and “animated by crystalline nostalgia, grinning synths, and punchy guitar chords.” It’s a track that puts Girl Scout’s soaring guitar-driven indie rock in the spotlight and daydreams about what adolescence would have been like if you could have shared it with the friends you find later in life.
Comprised of Emma Jansson (guitar, vocals), Per Lindberg (drums), Kevin Hamring (guitar/bass), Girl Scout originated as a group of friends studying jazz in Stockholm who connected through a shared penchant for the garage rock and brit-pop sounds of the 80s and 90s. Working with producer Ali Chant (Soccer Mommy, Perfume Genius), the group released their debut EP Real Life Human Garbage in February 2023 and quickly followed it up with their symbiotic sophomore EP Granny Music in fall of the same year. Last fall, the band stormed back with their third EP Headache.
Despite not having a full-length project to their name until Brink, the band’s wide-reaching catalog includes standout singles like “I Just Needed You To Know,” “Honey," “Weirdo,” “Boy In Blue,” and “All The Time And Everywhere.”
Having garnered acclaim from The New York Times, ELLE, Rolling Stone, Under The Radar, Northern Transmissions, BBC 6Music, BBC Radio One, and more, Girl Scout’s music consistently captures the daunting feelings, cringe-worthy moments and social encounters that can play on repeat in your head at night — the sort of experiences that feel infinite in the moment, but can be defined by the people you go through them with.
