Vancouver-based Concrete Vehicles share new single/video "Text Stop" taken from their AA-single "Cut Ties / Text Stop" 7" out now via Dine Alone Records, UK/EU tour dates announced.

Today Vancouver-based Concrete Vehicles share new single "Text Stop". taken from their AA-single 7" 'Cut Ties / Text Stop', out now via Dine Alone Records alongside a video shot on Double-X 16mm Kodak Motion Picture Film. The band, who blend experimental rock, post-punk and rhythmically complex jazz-rock, are set to tour the UK and Europe in the coming weeks.
On the new single, Ben Lock (Vocalist, Guitarist) said
“'Text Stop' was inspired by driving through very rural parts of Ontario and trying to imagine a life of a character that never left one of those towns - to attempt to have empathy with that situation and imagine looking back on your life, the dreams you could have seen through, but chose to stay comfortable.”
“It wasn’t until Ricky played the drums on it and Kenan played the synth melody in the verse that it felt alive. I don’t think there’s any rules per se, but we do try to stray away from structures and arrangements that come easiest to us. All of the new music is surprising us and challenging us in different ways than the first record. It’s still early on in the process of new music but we’re really excited about where it’s headed!”
On the video, director Kit Baronas said
“Taking inspiration from the retro sci-fi of the 1960s and ’70s, I sought to create a scenario that explores the textures of science fiction. The body laces with its environment, gradually losing its individuality as our cities become increasingly uniform.
We follow the band, clad in black ski masks, as a group of revolutionaries. They plot in dark basements and pound the pavement while despotic structures loom overhead. Some of their bodies are coated in textures of silver, leaden grey beneath cloud-choked skies.”
Concrete Vehicles (formerly Computer) is a band from Vancouver that began as a recording project between lifelong friends Hudson Schelesny and Ben Lock, who have been making music together since they were kids growing up in Tsawwassen, BC. As their recordings became increasingly chaotic and nuanced, they outgrew the limitations of a traditional live band, inspiring them to expand the project into a larger ensemble.
Fast forward a year and Concrete Vehicles is a fully formed five-piece working on transforming their songs to embrace a wider range of instrumentation including saxophone, synths, and percussion. Drawing from the diverse musical backgrounds, the band's sound finds common ground between '90s post-punk and hardcore pioneers like Drive Like Jehu and Dog Faced Hermans, alongside the abrasive experimentation of contemporary acts such as Death Grips and YHWH Nailgun. While their influences span countless genres, their creative process is united by a shared pursuit of music that feels immediate, physical, and visceral.
The band are set to play a run of UK and European live dates this summer. The tour includes festival appearances at All Points East, Reeperbahn, Leffingeleuren and Platzhirsch, alongside headline shows in London, Southampton, Manchester, Bristol, Coventry, Nottingham, Edinburgh and Gateshead.
