Announce forthcoming sophomore EP
Crafting stylish, college dorm low-key indie comes easily to Far Caspian – who emerged last year with the hazy Between Days EP, a collection of catchy Lo-Fi gems. Built into this knack is a natural want for progression, a trait clearly apparent on new single Conversations. Remaining are the key tenants of the Leeds trio’s dream-pop sound, mixed in with a fresh FM-radio sentimentality and very intentional 80s production sheen.
It's the first cut taken from a forthcoming sophomore EP. Where on Between Days the band were well subscribed to their self-coined ‘melanjolly’ style, referencing heavy material set to breezy sounds, things are a little less morose this time around. There's a definite brightening of the colours in 2019, or as songwriter Joel Johnston says:
“The first EP was about being stuck and not really having an idea of how to fix it, whereas this EP is about breaking out and enjoying your 20's and trying to figure out the process that comes with it.
We've always loved 80's bands and we wanted to get more of that influence in our sound. This whole EP definitely explores that more.”
Those 80s bands, as well as the sonics of modern stalwarts like Real Estate and Ariel Pink provide the influence for a sound that has already caught the ears of key tastemaker press in the UK, as well as racking up streams across the bedroom-pop YouTube world, and Spotify.
The three-piece played to a packed tent at last years’ Leeds Festival, as well as a DORK Mag showcase gig with Indoor Pets and Whenyoung. A support slot with fellow indie darlings Her’s and a Live at Leeds ‘Ones To Watch Appearance’ solidified an exciting live plot, extended by an upcoming headline our this Spring.
Conversations was produced by Joel Johnston and is out via Dance To The Radio.
